The Sacramento-Yolo Port Commission is requesting that the California Transportation Commission shift $10 million in bond funding to construction of a new bridge that could attract more rail-based cargo.
“The bridge is a major priority for us for a variety of reasons,” including helping to relieve vehicle congestion on roads outside the port, West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon said.
The state transportation bond funds had been slated for a long-delayed channel-deepening project.
